Byers Environmental Scholarship
Through the leadership of Bob Byers, Keep Iowa Beautiful's (KIB) Litter-Free School Campus program was initiated in northwest Iowa in 2003. In memory of Bob and his dedication to our organization, KIB and the Byers family have established the Robert E. Byers Scholarship Fund within the Keep Iowa Beautiful Endowment Fund. We are excited to offer four, $500 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors in 2011! Students across Iowa enrolling in an Iowa college or university to major in community enhancement or environmental areas of study are eligible.
Keep Iowa Beautifuls’ programs are focused on enhancing Iowa's image through community assistance and collaboration. We seek to improve behavior patterns in our younger generations and reinforce values in older generations that encourage respect for home, neighborhood, community and state.
This scholarship helps to celebrate Bob’s unselfish dedication to youth, environmental concerns and the well-being of the State. His family shares that Bob recognized from the beginning that Keep Iowa Beautiful serves as a key resource for educating youth on the importance of respect for the community and our environment.
