Get Involved with VEISHEA Service Day/Stash the Trash 2012

VEISHEA Service Day/Stash the Trash is a volunteer effort that brings students and community members together to help clean up the Ames community and provide support to local agencies.  The event is organized by VEISHEA, Keep Iowa State Beautiful, and Stash the Trash. Volunteers can choose to work alone, with a group of people, or with an organization.

Agencies that VEISHEA Service Day volunteers will work with this year include the Octagon Center for the Arts, the Iowa Arboretum, the Campustown Action Association, ACCESS, the Ames Girls Softball Association, and more.  Litter pick up will take place on and off campus through Stash the Trash and Keep Iowa State Beautiful.

The event is scheduled to take place from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 24. Trash bags and gloves will be available in the Reiman Gardens parking lot the day of the event. A free lunch and free admission to Reiman Gardens will also be offered to all volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering can register online at www.veishea.iastate.edu/service. Typically, more than 1,000 people register to volunteer, so register today!

Other sponsors of the event include the Volunteer Center of Story County, Ames Tribune, Live Green!, Ames Morning Rotary, ISU Rotaract Club, Chitty Garbage Service, Inc., Iowa Home Consulting and Disposal, ISU Facilities Planning and Management and the ISU Greek community.
